Worthing Museum Heritage Talks: A New Roman Landscape in Sussex An intimate season of talks with our Archaeology Curator James Sainsbury and guest speakers.
Join us for a special lecture by David Millum & Rob Wallace on their multi-year project uncovering the exceptionally busy Roman landscape of the Ouse Valley north of Lewes. A villa, road network and field systems have been revealed, in addition to a substantial riverside settlement with monumental defensive ditches. At the end of this lecture we will have the opportunity to look at the accompanying exhibition in the Norwood Gallery.

Worthing Museum Heritage Talks: Bronze Age Worthing An intimate season of talks with our Archaeology Curator James Sainsbury and guest speakers.
The arrival of bronze with newcomers from the continent fundamentally changed the face of Sussex forever. New technologies and new culture left its mark on the landscape, some of which is still visible today, thousands of years after these monuments were constructed. This lecture will focus on sites close to Worthing, along with some fascinating metal hoards found locally, parts of which will be available to handle at the end.

Join Archaeologist James for a lecture revealing the historical secrets of mighty Cissbury Ring. From Stone Age flint mining to Iron Age ramparts and World War 2 defences, Cissbury has fascinated locals and visitors alike for centuries. This talk will look at the archaeology of the site as well as the pioneering archaeologists themselves who were responsible for innovative approaches to the discipline. There will be an object-handling session after this lecture.
