Our thoughts
The directorial debut of Satoshi Kon, who went on to make Paprika, Millennium Actress, and Tokyo Godfathers. Hailed as the first animated film to feature an authentic psychological suspense story, this film was acclaimed at international film festivals and was released in theatres in Japan in 1998. One of the anime films to launch the medium on the international stage.

★★★★ Strange, stylish and intelligent, this is a rare anime film that delivers on its Eastern promise. Empire
★★★★ A smart, innovative and gut-wrenchingly disturbing film. Total Film
