Join experimental archaeologist, Dr James Dilley and Worthing Museum Curator, James Sainsbury for a weekend devoted to the Bronze Age.

Cast your own Bronze Age axe and get closeup with some highlights from our archaeology collection before enjoying a curator led walk exploring local Bronze Age Sussex. All materials and tea and coffee are provided, but you will need to bring your lunch.

Day One: Cast your own palstave axe with Dr James Dilley. Prepare your own mould, before working the leather bellows on the charcoal fuelled furnace to melt copper and tin. Cast the liquid metal to produce a replica palstave axe head based on an example from the Sompting Hoard before taking it home to keep.

Day Two: Join museum archaeologist, James Sainsbury on a guided walk of Kithurst Hill to learn more about the Sussex Bronze Age landscape with objects from the collection.
